There have probably been countless fixed fights.
Some people I see strongly believe the ODLH v Hopkins was fixed. I did not follow that one at the time. Can someone tell me why that has to be? Couldn't the body shot have KOed him?
One fight that virtually nobody says was fixed--and instead people say the guy was nuts--is the Oliver McCall v Lewis II fight.
Obviously, I can't prove it, but it seemed to be that McCall may have been ordered to lose, and like LaMotta v Billy Fox, refused to do it by going down.
Instead McCall would not engage, choosing to slip Lewis' punches and not fire back. (Maybe so as to not get killed,) Until the ref called it.
McCall just like LaMotta (at least in the film) broke down and cried from having to do what was reprehensible, but forced upon them.
To me this seemed an obvious fix, but I haven't seen anyone else say this. Rather people just say McCall was nuts.
Your thoughts on these two fights?
