This will be worse than Katrina. Not sure what you're thinking bro.
I know, as I'm staying in Houston right now.
Houston does not have the being below sea level problems it would never be that bad......However still could be very devasting... Katrina hit the perfect wrong place and it became the worst natural disaster in U.S. history it is unprecedented for a major city such as New Orleans become a ghost town.450,000 people that is crazy. It will never happen that bad again on the U.S mainland unless it hits the same spot everyone knew how vunerable that city was but nobody thought it would actually get a direct hit as it did.
How much can the gulf coast take? If this storm gets to be a worst case scenario there will be an unprecedented migration of citizens the likes of which the US hasn't seen since the great depression or perhaps even the civil war. I think we'd be kidding ourselves by suggesting there are sufficient resources to accommodate this many people. Not with a war ongoing and National Guard troops deployed from every state. I believe that there are reports of thousands still struggling to be rescued in Mississippi and Louisiana. Entire towns yet to receive aid. God forbid this thing from turning north on New Orleans again. That could make the current migration permanent. American refugees is something I did not foresee in my lifetime. You folks in the gulf coast are in my prayers. Peace.

Actually the worst natural disaster to hit the US was the hurricane that hit Galveston in 1900. Also, you don't have to be below sea level in order to be flooded by a hurricane. Current computer models are estimating that if Houston takes a direct hit, the flooding could be worse that New Orleans.

Really well....The flooding will not stay for weeks unless you are in a bowl like N.O. either way I hope that it is minimal damage to where it does hit...
The Galveston hurricane remains the worst natural disaster in lives lost. Estimates range from 6000 to 13000. Basically it wiped out the whole town and needless to say it was every man for himself back in those days for survival, although Houston shipped down supplies.
Katrina is the worst in terms of property damage and population displacement. Nothing in US history approaches it, not even 911. 3 dollars for a gallon of gas is fixing to be one of those quarter for a milkshake kind of warm and fuzzy memories.
Galveston could suffer major damage from Rita and Houston will flood and be damaged, but it won't be like Katrina. Houston is not a bowl below sea level flooded by the sea although it has plenty of flood zones.
