  • Is Mosely's decline due to steroids??

be4 im attacked - i kno that its not certain mosely was on steroids. it can also be debated that he will regain his prime. Im a big fan of moselys boxing skills and hope that he regains them.

however - he was caught up in the whole BALCO fiasco....and i read somewhere recently that he has the look and characteristics of some1 who was on steroids - bloated face, sluggish look, immaculate body with lil fat even thou he has jumped and yo-yo'd different weight divisions.

and finally that his demise has been either due to the fact he cant take the steroids anymore and hence his speed has gone, or that his body is finally giving up from the strain....

    Any views?

I really don't know but he sure lacks the ambition or something he looks so average most of the time now with the exception to a burst from time to time.....but he never follows up anymore and seems to have lost the killer instinct he once had when he was 38-0 35 kos.

      I think so...

at one point he was like regarded as the p4p best boxer and potential to be one of the greatest...

then he starts looking terrible in all these fights...

OR maybe DeLaHoya just ****** REALLY bad.

Hes su****ious.. Vernon Forrest beating him a couple years back is equivalent to Carlos Mausssa beating Floyd Mayweather Jr.

          hmm

Mosley's speed is still there, he just cannot throw combos any more. I don't think steroids increase speed anyway. They increase muscle mass, which if anything could slow you down. Mosley's decline is due to two reasons:

          1) Vernon Forrest...killed his ego.
          2) Muscle. The man has too much muscle. Mosley never should have fought at 154 lbs. He should have stayed at 147 lbs. He's lifted too much weights, got obsessed with it and those big muscles slowed him down, depleted his stamina, and made him unable to throw the combos we were used to seeing from him as a result.

HuH wrong again Forrest is a good fighter who has the style to give Mosley fits and beat him waaaay back when they were amatuers too.

I agree, Forrest has that dangle, tall kinda style that doesn't suit Mosley. As for the steriods.....i don`t think a fighter as high profile as Mosley would be able to use them and not get caught. I think Mosley is just getting older and slowing down. And the guy has come up three weight divisions in 6 years, maybe his body has rejected the extra bulk at his age and now his skills are eroding?

I don't know but in Shanes rematch with Winky he had nowhere near the muscle mass that he used to have. They said it was because he didn't use weights to train with for that fight but he had no bulk at all.

He did look more steamlined in the rematch, but consider that he performed very well even in losing.....supporting the arguement that Shane`s weight increase has possibly ruined him!

Yeah he's performed VERY well in Forrest 2 and Winky 2. IMO I think it's a case of moving up from 135 to 154 in like 5 years. That AND the fact that he got beat by 2 "no-name" at the time, but very good fighters. Stylistically, Forrest and Winky were both tall, lanky fighters with excellent jabs. The jab kept Shane at bay during most of the 4 fights.

Mosley is definetly on the decline, but he is still an awesome fighter. You guys don't give him props, but you will when he knocks Zab Judah out!
