I was wondering, as people ask about fastest hands—either now or all-time—about something related. It seems that a likely KO occurs if you can leap into your opponent, or otherwise move your whole body from out of range quicker than he can react to it. Alternatively, a defender against someone with very fast hands tends to then try to be out of range, and the fighter with the best feet as well as hands is the one who gets the job done.
In other words, who has the combined fastest hands AND feet? Or who is the best leaper?
It also seems like a leaping left hook is the way to go here. I am thinking of Frazier against Ali I, or Patterson vs Johannson II.
Then there is the incomparable RJJ leap into Glen Kelly from a position with his hands behind his back. That was with his right, but he was not in the usual stance at the time. Of course we also had RJJ’s leap into Toney that led to a KD. Seems like RJJ may be the best of all time with this?
Pacquiao as against Hatton and others is pretty good here too I think.
I think in MMA they have the “superman punch.” But is that not with the power hand, which has a longer route than the lead left hook?
Such a quick body movement leading to a KO is all the more remarkable when you realize that the “receiver” is unable to merely move his head out of the way a few inches, while the offensive fighter is moving his entire body at him. Then there is the addiitonal factor that the "leaper" may have to adjust his punch while in mid-air if the "receiver" does move his head. Just shows how athletic and quick the great boxers are.
So who today has the best combined fastest hands and feet now? Or should I say who is the best leaper?
