Vic doesn't sugarcoat, he tells it like it is. If someone takes offense, its their problem. He speaks his mind, so what if sometimes he has arrogant thoughts. He gave Perez his due, didnt diss him in any way. He was just saying the truth, that he was too strong for Perez.

Agreed love the guy wish we had more like him. My question to you sir who started the thread, if he retires today is he a HOFer? I would have to say yes just for the fact he was pretty much undisputed for a time at 115. What do you say??

he was lineal champ for about 2 fights at 115, but he does have some very good other wins.

I don't think he's done enough as of yet, however, if he can gather a title at 118, and somehow beat or go life and death with nonito, I think he would definitely be in. even if he beats mares and someone else like agbeko or moreno, i think he should at least be considered in the future, not first ballot.

I'm not a master boxing historian for sure, but even I can come up with names that are currently in the ibhof that Vic has a better resume than, but I don't think that's enough to warrant his inclusion.

Vic and Montiel are very under-rated in this forum.

no shame in losing to Donaire tho.

It wasn't hard for him to look good Sat nite that's for sure, whens the last time Vic was dropping combos like that? up and down, 5-6 punch combos? He's not the guy you wanna have an off night against.
I respect him, I just think he's a little dirty to be honest. It's illegal to paw with the lead hand like that, especially if you are leaving it out there like that.

Mares corner prior to their fight talked about it and I'm surprised the ref let it go so far against Perez.

Even though, Vic is rough and tough and put it on Perez that night, disappointing fight to say the least.

The Real Raging Bull--Jake LaMotta--would have taken that hook from Donaire, and laughed and asked for 10 more. (Even if was thrown by a middleweight.)

We should be talking about real fighters more, so here's a little tribute to Vic D, who's been knocking motha***as out, fighting the best he can, and entertaining crowds since at least '04.

I know he makes some excuses after his fights, I know he's like James Toney and never gives his opponents any props, but so what. Look who he fights:

-He blew out a 30-0 Irene Pacheco for his first IBF belt,
                      -bombed out Maldanado,
                      -entertaining fight with Burgos,
-got KTFO by DOnaire (no shame in that obviously).
-Beats down a red hot Mijares for the unified title at Superfly.
                      -makes Arce's face mined meat
-fights a tricky badass like Agbeko in his first step up fight to bantam (Agbeko should have been undefeated)
                      - fights the wrong fight vs Mares the beast and loses a razor thin decision
-comes back to bumrush and beat down and admittedly flat perez, but he did what he had to do.

The guy has fought a ridiculous amount of actual champions. Ridiculous.

                      Love fighters like him

Yeah that's why vic is my favorite fighter.

Some other facts to add to this thread

                      1. Even after getting KTFO by Donaire, when Nonito burned Shaw and Gary refused to do business with him (Donaire), Vic wanted the rematch so bad that he practically begged Shaw saying, "If you love and respect me as a fighter you would get me this fight".

                      2. When Hasagawa was looking like a beast at BW, Darchinyan (A 115lber at the time) was willing to go to japan to face him, if he got past Agbecko. He loss and the rest is history, but the fact that his first fight at 118 was Agbecko and the fact he was willing to go to japan for Hasa in his next fight really speaks volumns as to how ballsy Vic is as a fighter.

                      3. Dude was going after the Israel Vazquez vs Marquez winner for the longest. He sparred Vazquez and swore up and down that even though he was a SuperFlyweight and Vazquez was a SuperBantaweight/Featherweight, that he would destroy him.

                      4. Look up his comments regarding Fernando Montiel. Claimed Montiel was scared due him destroying his brother Alejandro Montiel and that if Fernando was any kinda man, he would step up and try to avenge his brothers loss....lol

I love Vic, and the bad thing is he is up in age, even though he hasn't shown it. I'm not sure, but it does apear that he is starting to gass alot lately but I'm not sure if it was due to the fast start or what.
