Cory Spinks vs. Antonio Diaz

First off, was this fight televised?

I have been messing around on boxrec for the past while, and I came across Antonio Diaz's record. I knew he was the first guy to beat Cory Spinks, and one of the better wins in Margarito's extended period of time as the WBO welterweight champion.

One thing I really like about boxrec is the ratings option. You can turn it on so it shows the ratings each fighter had going into a fight, as well as the ratings they had after the fight was finished. In this case, Diaz came in with a rating of 459 and Spinks came in with one of 26. Diaz ended up winning by split decision, which their computer system factors in as a close victory, and in this case, closer than it should have been, as it dropped Diaz's rating to 330 and raised Spinks's to 156.

Was Spinks really that big of an unknown coming in? I know that he had piss poor competition in his early undefeated streak, but I imagine that there was some hype, as he was the son of Leon Spinks and the nephew of Michael Spinks.

Just a random fight I wish I knew more about. I hope one of you sharp cookies has some information that can further my knowledge on the topic.

I always like Spinks he is very comparable to Mallanaggi if either had pop they could have done huge thing.Paulie with pop i believe would be a dominate world champ.

You really have to respect those guys for understanding their limitations and boxing in a way that gives them the best chance for success, rather than just conforming to the way that most people fight who have power as one of their tools.
