Comments Thread For: Ortiz vs Berto Rematch, DiBella Expects it To Happen

Promoter Lou DiBella expects a rematch to happen between Andre Berto (27-1, 21KOs) and WBC welterweight champion Victor Ortiz (29-2-2, 22KOs). Last weekend Ortiz captured the title from Berto with a "Fight of The Year" performance. After twelve rounds and multiple knockdowns, Ortiz walked away with a unanimous decision victory. Berto suffered his first career defeat. DiBella doesn't really see a rematch happening right away. It's more likely that both fighters will have at least one interim-bout before a possible rematch takes place.

Ortiz should give Andre one after Berto gives Collazo his rematch.

TBH I'm not interested in seeing a second fight. Let Andre Berto fight Mike Jones or Brad Solomon then go for Ortiz. Victor has positioned himself nicely and if he gets a quick win over Ayden and/or a belt holder in Senchenko/Zaveck
he will be in position for a mega fight against Floyd or Manny.

Again let Andre work his way back up to those big HBO paydays and headlining cards.

Good point bro,Berto never gave collazo a rematch.Maybe ortiz shouldint
give berto a rematch either. The rematch between ortiz and berto would
be ortiz knocking him out,Or berto clinching even more.

I think they should fight right away... Who can they go out and get to fight at the moment that would be better then a rematch? Especially Berto.

            Exactly.

Let Berto feel how it's like to be on the otherside of the end.

Let him come back the hard way.

I would LOVE to see that match again, that was a GREAT FIGHT! I think Vic can take another match before giving him a rematch.

Just like I think some people are OVERRATING Vic after 1 match, I think people are giving up on Berto TOO SOON because of 1 Match.

I agree with others who say Berto should have given Collazo a rematch...Collazo basically laid the BLUE PRINT OUT on how to beat Berto...just force him to Brawl! But the difference is that Berto I am sure has a Rematch Clause because he was the Champion, unfortunately Collazo didn't have that Clause

If I was Berto, just FOR PRIDE I would rematch Collazo just to shut people up before rematching Ortiz.

Already said this before, I dont see Berto going after a rematch straight away, And he isnt fighting Collazo neither.

Berto was exposed. He had no idea how to handle the pressure Ortiz was giving him. There where long stretches when all he did was lean against the ropes and let Ortiz whale away on him.

After watching the fight a second time I think the fight was overrated a little bit. The first half was action pack, but Ortiz was winning those rounds and the last half of the fight was much slower with Ortiz getting the better of the two.

I think the reason boxing doesn't get the best matchups is what we see here. Once a fighter looses all of a sudden he's exposed. Even if they show heart and resilience and other great qualities we love in fighters it looks like we can't help but call the over rated, exposed or bums when in fact they're good fighters who lost to a better fighter that night. JuanMa, Berto, Kirkland, Lemieux, Marroquin and Perez are all good fighters who lost to a better man that night. It doesn't make them bums. They're all good fighters who just happen to loose a fight. They can all come back like Khan, Ortiz, Vic and others who have lost. Imagine if whane Pacquiao, Morales, Marquez, Khan, Maidana and others were bums when they lost a fight? We would have no good fighters...
