It wouldn't sell here in the states as almost no one has ever heard of Haye here and Wlad isn't really popular here so I am glad its going to be on HBO.
i notice this kinda thing a fair amount with boxing fans. does paying extra on top of your hbo/showtime subscriptions make the fights more exciting for some of you guys? i can't fathom a fan asking if a fight should be on ppv or wanting it to be on ppv unless they were financially involved

What kind of a fan wants a fight to be PPV?

I mean I buy all fight including Marquez-Diaz II, but I still don't want to keep paying for more fights.

Why would a guy that HBO said we no longer want to show your fights and a guy that has never been on HBO be PPV? It may be big in other countries but in America this fight is not big at all. Just because it's a big fight in some places doesn't mean it should PPV in all places.

Lewis/Tyosn, everyone knew how the fight was gonna go as soon as contract was signed.

Klitschko/Haye is two guys in their prime and its more 50-50.

Also, this is a European fight, so Fck HBO. Klitschko said he doesnt want to work with HBO anymore, so to be honest Im not even sure why this fight is on HBO.
It's not a 50/50 fight. Almost everyone in the world is picking Wlad to win. The only people picking Haye are his countrymen.

I think this fight would do a lot for boxing and the heavyweight division if it was on regular tv. PPV is one of the reasons that boxing is dwindling in popularity, the audience has become a lot narrower. A big heavyweight tussle with a large audience would do wonders for all of boxing.

Wlad has bored the American audience to death, i think it's a nice reward for them to see him get KTFO without having to pay $60.

A heavyweight champ that is extremely unpopular amongst American fans facing off against a Brit that's never fought on American TV. Fighting on a, what, 5-6 hour tape delay?

How the hell is that marketable?

Do you guys remember how hyped up Klitschko-Ibragimov was, and what a disaster that event turned out to be for HBO?

We're lucky this fight is being shown on HBO at all. They're doing this for the hardcore fans that have wanted this for a long time; they know the casual fans hate Wlad and have no idea who Haye is.

Because boxing fans have a lower IQ than fans of any other sport.
