I think the stoppage due to the cut was inevitable because once that vaseline smears off it would had started leaking again non stop so it was kind of a lose lose for yohnny imo.
Perez will b bak though he's been in 3 straight wars with the very top of the division a move up in weight should def. Be considered by he and his advisors,he's been looking drained and lethargic recentlyComment

I was thinking the same thing...I'm no boxer...by trade but gosh man, give me Darchinyan's payday and I'd have whooped Perez's ass in 3 rds. I'm more of a MW though but that is beside the point, lolComment

Considering that most of the fans who showed up after Mares was dropped came for Vic, I don't think they were very disapointed.
Let's not take away credit from Vic. The way he jumped on poor Perez from the opening bell would have discouraged you too to fight back. Vic was pummeling him from pillar to post in the first round, didn't exactly leave Yohnny in the best position to fight well after that kind of a welcome beating.Comment

Perez did pretty good in the 3rd and made Vic very uncomfortable when he pressed him, but Vic closed the round strong and continued it into the 4th and 5th.
Perez just kept getting clipped by that Darchinyan left, so Vic would've never let himself get out of the fight as long as that was happening and having a visible effect on him, because even when Vic gets tired, if he hits you clean, it gives him an energy surge and confidence boost.
I still feel if Perez pressed him and avoided that left hand, he might've been able to stop Vic down the stretch if he strung together a few similar rounds to the 3rd, but Darchinyan had all of his confidence and was having his way, so it could've just gotten worse with the cut.Comment

Perez looked like BBQ'd *****.
