Why is Matt Korobov still fighting poor opposition?

I would have expected Korobov to be facing better opposition by now.

He fought better opponents in some of his 2009 fights than the guy he's in with tonight.

Is Korobov become stale and even regressing because of his mediocre opposition? Is Bob Arum doing a poor job of moving him along?

He's in the same situation as Deontay Wilder and Alexander Povetkin: wasting his time and maybe even regressing by fighting weak opposition.

Compare those guys' opposition to Helenius, Rigondeaux, Glazkov, and Pulev.

But I think he's not looking as impressive because he's become stale from fighting bums, and he's losing his motivation.

I dont know possibly but i was at his fight on the Pavlik Martinez undercard and the pressure from his opponent really troubled him and honestly he doesnt look ready to step up now. I think Povetkin has become stale from fighting poor opposition im not sure its the same for Korobov. Maybe he just isnt as good as originally thought?

He looked great in the amateurs, and looked impressive in his early professional fights in 2008.

Now he's struggling a bit against the same level of opponent he had no problems against in his first 6-8 pro fights.

Not too familar with his amateur career but i have been to a few of his pro fights live and from what i have seen he is a decent prospect with solid power who doesnt do well against pressure. I think he needs to be matched very carefully at this point and if he steps up it should be against the right opponents. Maybe a change of trainer is what he needs at this point? Also another poster on here said something about him needing some sort of surgery on his nose or something like that and maybe that has affected his stamina?

I don't know, he keeps switching.

He'd be best off with the Russian trainer he worked with during his very successful amateur career.

Lack of keeping a consistent trainer.
Bob Arum attention is on other fighters.
