Comments Thread For: Gomez Hopes To Turn Back The Clock in Prizefighter

As previously reported on BoxingScene.com, Matchroom's International heavyweight tournament, which is scheduled for May 7 in London, is now joined by no other than German-based Cuban Juan Carlos Gomez, 50-2. He completes a lineup that already includes Mike Perez, Fres Oquendo, Kevin Johnson and Tye Fields. [Click Here To Read More]

Unless someone drops out, it will be:

    1. Kevin Johnson (USA)
    2. Michael Sprott (UK)
    3. Konstantin Airich (Kaz/Ger)
    4. Mike Perez (Cuba/Ire)
    5. Fres Oquendo (USA/PR)
    6. Ty Fields (USA/Can)
    7. Gregory Tony (France)
    8. Juan Carlos Gomez (Cuba/Ger)

    Here's the BoxRec complete list:

    http://boxrec.com/show_display.php?show_id=618528

I see two top 25 HWs on the list: Gomez and Johnson.

And three top 50 HWs: Perez (potentially a top HW contender), Oquendo, and Fields.

Sprott is in the top 100 at HW, while Airich and Tony are just outside the top 100.

    Excellent lineup.

Not much boxing this weekend or next, but May 7 will be one of the best days of the year with several interesting cards: this one, the Sauerland card, the Pacquiao-Mosley card, and Pulev-Rossy on the Holyfield card.

By the way Freedom, I posted a complimentary letter to you yeaterday about being the ONLY ONE to have seen and MENTIONED that devastating first butt that Sanders gave Klitschko, which both cut his LEFT eye and caused his stoppage. I have written at least a dozen times about thei, and got nothing but abuse, scorn and worse.

And it's so easily seen, if one used Slo Motion.

My erratic computer failed to transmit, and I take this opportunity of congratulating you on your honesty and per****acity.

The report writer is completely wrong in saying that Gomez complwtely outboxed klitschko until Klitschko wore him sown. That implies that Gomez won nearly all the rounds. Nothing could be further from the TRUTH .

I went to the trouble of just now watching it again on Youtube. And the ONLY rd that Gomez may have had a chance of winning, more likely sharing, was rd 1.

From Rd 2 Klitschko bewgan to take charge and by rd 3 he was incomplete control. That does not mean to imply that Gomez was not doing well. He was doing as well as ANYONE, including Lewis has ever done against Klitschko, and he kept trying all the time. But Klitschko was too accurate and sharp for him.

I notice now that Klitschko rarely moves his upper body, which suggests that his back operations left him a little less limber.

                Watch the fight.

Check the REPLAY of the first knockdown, shown by HBO between rounds. Sanders came in with HIS HEAD, cutting Wlad and knocking him down.

Wlad never recovered from the headbutt for the rest of the fight, and was easy to hit because he was dazed.
