        A casual fan:

A casual fan will name you household names such as Tyson, Ali, Foreman, DLH, Leonard, Mayweather, Pacquiao, along with a few more

A casual fan often believe Tyson is the greatest of all time

A casual fan will say silly things and make up silly assumptions

A casual fan hasn't much depth or knowledge in boxing

A casual fan mainly tune into PPV events

A casual fan will follow the crowd. I.e David Haye will violate Klitschko, and that Klitschko are 'bums'

A casual fan often are only interested in particular fighters they support

A casual fan doesn't even know: Louis, Robinson, Whitaker, Holmes, Chavez, Toney and many more

A casual fan doesn't know the skills involved in boxing (they just wtch) footwork, slipping, parrying, feinting, they're oblivious to these type of technical abilities

A casual fan can barely debate a fight, or give you possible outcomes of a fight.

Casual fans- Watch superfights or ppv fights involving their countryman. They do not follow really good fighters just below stardom: Bradley, Martínez, Gamboa, etc.

I'd mention Donaire, Juanma, Bute...but they already have a huge fanbases in their respective countries.

GUYS, CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG, BUT DON'T YOU JUST HATE IT WHEN:

People who casually watch boxing say, "Oh look, that fighter just lost his '0', he's not worth following anymore."

Casual fans think Pacquiao is undefeated, which is why the fight with Mayweather is going to be big.

That Mayweather has no skills, he just runs.

Pacquiao is the greatest fighter who ever lived, yet they haven't watched enough boxing to even go through any considerations about other boxers.

You mention Sugar Ray Robinson and they go, "Oh, yeah! I remember when he fought Marvin Hagler!" Ugh...

When casual fans say that there is hardly any technique involved in boxing. When they say that the harder hitter prevails. I absolutely love it when an undefeated power-puncher gets the brakes beat off of him in front of a casual fan. Absolutely stunned...

When a casual fan swears Harold Lederman's scorecard is the official scorecard.

Boxing has very few casual fans. But that's primarily because you can't follow boxing casually. If you want to follow boxing you're either buying $60 PPVs, paying monthly cable subscription fees for HBO or SHO, or trolling forums for crappy stream links. If you do either of those three just to watch some boxing, you are not a casual fan, you are a real boxing fan.

though a real boxing fan should obviously have the real priorities straight (family and health, finacial security, positive relationships,) his life reverberates in boxing. it's bouncing around him constantly.
boxing has shaped the man i've become
and god willing it will continue to change me into a better man
it maintains perspective, motivates us to be better, gives us guys that we can look up to.

that's not the case with the casual fan
who want to know when floyd mayweather will finally stop "running away" from pacquiao
or the folks that think pacquiao "should just take the test"

casual fans that stay casual fans arent real fans of the sport.
they like the allure of boxing. we take it for granted, but boxing is "cool."
they also enjoy the excitement (which i believe is deeply ingrained in humanity, the rush of seeing talented and conditioned men fighting)
                    and knockouts
casual fans (and *****es ) dig knockouts

they wont watch/ will not enjoy an undercard (unless somebody is getting an ass whooping, bleeding everywhere, etc)
                    Great Post
