Comments Thread For: Saul Alvarez Tabs McEwan To Prepare For Ryan Rhodes

Scottish middleweight Craig McEwen will help prepare WBC 154-pound champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez for his scheduled defense against Ryan Rhodes of England. McEwan has accepted an offer to enter Alvarez's camp as a sparring partner for a period of four weeks in Big Bear, California. Alvarez-Rhodes takes place on June 18 in Guadalajara, Mexico. McEwan recently suffered the first loss of his career, by knockout at the hands of Andy Lee. The Scottish boxer is planning to cut weight for a planned run at 154.

nah mcewan is legit boxer with good speed and nice straight punches. lol victor cayo is too slow to fight the style he fights, and he is 140 pounder and has NO PUNCH. lol canelo would knock him outta the ring with the first solid straight right he lands. pirog ain't coming over from russia to be a ****ing sparring partner lol. mcewan lives right in LA and trains at wildcard so it's perfect.

McEwan is a beast....good choice for a sparring partner.

Hopefully things go well for McEwan @ 154. Theirs more talent and bigger names in that division anyways. Good move.

The best sparring partner he has fight should be the next Mexa Champion, Middleweight Gilberto "El Zurdo" Ramirez he's much better than McEwan, the kid is big and can also fight at Super Middleweight.
