It looks that way.
Here at TheBoxingEmpire, we can admire a man who makes good on his bets and his debts to society. So we were shocked when one of our heroes, Dan Rafael of ESPN, had not yet made good on his promise.
Dan has made a career out of calling Floyd Mayweather, David Haye and countless others out for their ducking. So could it be, that our honored King Freak might be doing a little ducking of his own?
Our Proposal
We think it's time the King Freak paid his dues. However, the King Freak seems to have King James disease, in that he'll only shave his head if ESPN gives him air time. We know what you're thinking.
However, we do have this year's biggest fight right around the corner, as Manny Pacquiao defends his pound-for-pound elite status against Shane Mosley on May 7th in Las Vegas. And it just so happens that ESPN's Friday Night Fights is doing a show the night before - May 6th, also in Las Vegas.
Let's imagine it now. Dan Rafael is an in studio guest of Brian Kenny. They come back from break, and he's sitting there in the barber's chair. Dan takes donations for shaving his head to "go bald for St. Baldrick's," a volunteer-driven charity committed to funding promising research to find cures for childhood cancers and give survivors long and healthy lives. Or Dan could choose a charity of his own. Either way, his head is shaved and people donate money citing Friday Night Fights. The ratings boom and a warm spirit encompasses Vegas and the entire Pacquiao-Mosley atmosphere, developing much-needed good will for the sport of boxing. And to make it even sweeter - Top Rank, Golden Boy, Dibella Promotions or any of the other deep pockets boxing organizations MATCH the donations made by the freaks.
