I'd have to see how Maidana looks at 147 before I'd give Ortiz credit for a win there, some guys don't carry weight well.

Ortiz was getting killed against Maidana in their bout, but i'm not entirely sure if Ortiz got his head straight, he couldn't have still come back and won that fight. He just needed to box. He was putting Maidana down if he had the heart to continue, he could have won that fight. Many fighters before him have come back from worse, but they had heart.

All in All, I think Ortiz "could" beat Maidana at 140 or 147 but Maidana is probably so deep inside his head, that who knows if he would.

I, like you, already believed ortiz would win that fight, now I'm sure. Fight would be stopped by the end of 3. If saturday's ortiz shows up, maybe even quicker.

Stop with the maidana love fest.....Yes he beat ortiz but he was floored. He lost to khan and looked bad against CORLEY and MORALES. Maidana is exciting not elite........Saturday's ortiz was ELITE
Couldn't have said it better myself.

Maidana in my opinion has elite power and an elite chin, everything else about his game is c-. But you never know how he might look at 147. Also Ortiz/Maidana might just be a case of one fighter just having the correct tools and style to beat the other.

He would stop Maidana in the mid rounds. He lost the first fight because he got sloppy and Maidana pounced on him.

He's fights Maidana again he outboxes him, picking his shots until he breaks him down or hurts him enough to finish him.

About the same chances. If he draws him into a dog fight, he would pound away.

even maidana doesn't want to move up to 147 lbs. he sited it as one of the reasons why the fight won't happen. either maidana doesn't want the rematch or he doesn't want it at 147 lbs.

He quit that night, it's that simple. In a rematch, I think Ortiz KO's him.
I agree, Ortiz is the better fighter but he just fought the wrong fight, but he bounced back. At 147 Ortiz seems to be stronger, if they fight again Maidana won't bully him.

a maidana tune up at 147 lbs is unnecessary for ortiz to get credit. I mean maidana did make him quit after all. if ortiz beats him, I say it erases his loss.
