      Good Article.

Yeah anything can happen. BUT you don't really need to be a genius to work out that McCloskey had no chance even the fight had continued. He would have had to KO Khan and his record would indicate that he's no Maidana who could actually change a fight with one punch.

Did'nt want to risk the cash cow...

If you think for a second that the promotional company and everybody down to the ref was'nt looking for khan to knock mccloskey out in three or get him out at the first chance, you,re crazy.I really liked khan until the other night and now after that bull**** he was talkin after the fight,he said he was having it so easy and hitting paul anytime he wanted.I watched it three times and didnt see mccloskey phased by what landed at all.He looked very average and maybe mccloskey would'nt of won but his game plan was working and exactly what anyone would of done, let khan blow him self out and take as few shots as possible.Khan showed what a spoiled brat he really is after the fight and I now cant wait to see the prescott knocked out of him.I hope mccloskey gets a big name fight so we can see if be can be more active he made khan look very sloppy,Khan did not look a class above paul mccloskey,He made me think maidana is an easy target.A ripped off fan.

I m not surprised this fight did not end well and has controversy all round it. It was a nothing fight from the get go and a real let down after the Maidana fight.
The negotiations did not get off to a good start with Team Khan playing off fighters and going for the cheapest deal. The TV deal was a shambles and it all ended in a mess. Hopefully Team Khan will set up meaningful fights in the future and stay clear of exibition matches and learn from this farce but somehow I doubt it.

Was a khan fan,not now.Mccloskey made him miss all night watched three times and did you see mccloskeys face after the fight? He looked like the first round had'nt started.Ithink it could of turned into a good scrap.Amir Khan tried to talk down boxing in europe while he was throwing world class punches that missed all night.I hope Mccloskey gets another world class fight to see if he can step it up in the later rounds.I'd also like my 14.95 back and to see Khan knocked the **** out.I really liked Amir Khan before this fight...

Thanks for the reads, guys. Those who think I went too far in claiming that McCloskey would not have produced beyond the sixth need to look at what I'm saying. If he did not do anything going into the midway point then how can you justify saying he'd have found his range, punches and power to turn things aroud in the second half, there was zero indication of this in the completed rounds.

WBA rules state that the ref has the discretion to stop a fight on an injury if the wound is bad and/or if the fighter is in a losing position. Paul was 0-6, cut and had barely landed a shot, people can claim he was playing possum and may have come on strong but you can only go on what you see, and what I and the ref saw was a guy who could not force his way into the fight.

Sure, Paul could have defended himself through a few more rounds but this was no Jake LaMotta, Mike Weaver of JCC type of performance.

              Dooley loves Kahn's nuts
Could be, or it could be that I'm not your average wild eyed loony looking for the slightest whiff of controversy.

There's not much more to say. Khan beat a solid enough European level boxer en route to the fight against Bradley.

I watched the fight and never thought Paul McCloskey was going to do anything but SURVIVE the 12 rounds ?

Good article, I pretty much agree with what was said. Paul gave the officials little reason to let him carry on, even if the cut wasn't too bad.

Only one thing - I thought it was a TD, not a TKO?

It certainly looked like that was his plan...

My bad, editing error, had 'stoppage' once already in the opening para so stuck in TKO with a mind to changing it as I used TD later in the text but it kind of got lost along the way.

I think Paul needs to dust off his EBU title now as the BBBoC have stated that there will be no investigation. No point complaining about this one any further, knuckle down and try to force another shot by winning a few fights.

                    T-97, nice avatar pic!

It was clear his plan was to tire Khan and try KO him in the late rounds his plan was working and if Limond can knockdown Khan its not totally unrealistic to think McCloskey could do the same.
