Cotto is a modern day great, give him some respect!

I can't think of another fighter from the modern era who has beaten so many fighters who have come back to win a world championship.

Zab Judah reclaiming the IBF championship got me thinking.

From the top of my head, Cotto's resume reads:

Torres: undefeated, came back to win a championship
Malignaggi: undefeated, came back to win a championship
Maussa: undefeated, came back to win a championship
Quintana: undefeated, came back to win a championship
Judah: came back to win a championship
Mosley: became THE welterweight champion after Cotto loss
N'dou: came back to win a championship
Clottey: likely to win a championship again
Foreman: undefeated, likely to win a championship again
Not to forget he beat former champions like Cesar Bazan & Corley.

We keep seeing these naysayers now writing Cotto off but give the guy some respect! He fought former lineal champ in Mayorga and performed fluently. And this was an in-shape Mayorga who turned up to fight.

Cotto has 1 legit loss on his record and that's to one of the greatest fighters of all-time. Considering he had no trainer, he didn't do all that badly and was definitely competitive for considerable parts of the fights. He wasn't shut-out like Trinidad was against Wright.

If you guys want to give Margarito - a convicted cheat - the benefit of the doubt then that's a real shame for the sake of the sport.

History will re-evaluate Cotto as a great from this era of the fight game. Show some respect.

Cotto's best days are far behind him, but hes definitely one of the best boxers of his generation. His streak at 140 produced a lot of great fights. He just doesn't get much respect on here because he's holding a title but won't fight the like of Sergio or Angulo.

Still, no reason not to give the man his props.

(Small correction; N'dou didn't win a championship. He was given a title, and in his first fight since getting handed the belt, Malignaggi took that **** from him in a fight where he won every round. Ndou sucks.)

Modern day great. Lol. He's not even one of the top P4P fighters right now. And was only one for a brief period of time based on a close decision win over Shane Mosley. Talk about legendary status.
