As a neutral observer, Miguel Cotto would completely outclass Victor Ortiz. I really like Ortiz but Cotto is an elite fighter and all of these naysayers who are writing Cotto off know **** about boxing. Cotto has to be considered a great of the modern era and with 1 legit loss to Pac, the guy deserves credit.

I can't think of another fighter from the modern era who has beaten so many fighters who have come back to win a world championship.

Zab Judah reclaiming the IBF championship got me thinking.

      Cotto's resume reads:

Torres: undefeated, came back to win a championship
Malignaggi: undefeated, came back to win a championship
Maussa: undefeated, came back to win a championship
Bailey: came back to win a championship
Quintana: undefeated, came back to win a championship
Judah: came back to win a championship
Mosley: became THE welterweight champion after Cotto loss
N'dou: came back to win a championship
Clottey: likely to win a championship again
      Foreman: undefeated
Not to forget he beat former champions like Cesar Bazan & Corley.

Cotto deserves a lot of respect. He hasn't been outclassed like Juanma was last night. At least in his defeat against Pac, he was competitive. And that was a Cotto who had no trainer. That's the 1 legit loss he has. Give the guy some credit. He beat a former lineal champ in Mayorga who actually turned up to fight. Cotto looked good in that fight. Unlike Margarito in his comeback fight in Mexico!

If Arum wasn't such a ***** this fight would be possible. Alvarez would be possible. Instead we get to wait until September for a fight we already saw. And I'd go with Cotto still. Cotto would have stopped Berto last night. It would have been like the Judah fight.

An well experienced well trained version of the pre-Maidana Ortiz could arguably win. However, the reality is that Ortiz was too in experienced, and this Ortiz is too soft for that level of competition.

I'd rather see Ortiz in with Cotto, than Mayweather or Pacquiao.

This would be a great fight, and I think it's a fight that would really sell. I also think he's got the tools to beat Cotto.

Round 6 really proved to me that Victor can dig deep and not break. I saw plenty of right hands that hurt and buckled Ortiz, but he kept his composure.

even though i don't really like looking ahead, i think ortiz takes it..
ortiz has good footwork, power, and youth...plus talent. i think those tools can beat an older 154 cotto, but no one knows how ortiz would take cotto's bodyshots. it would be a great fight

Come on now. Cotto >>>>>>>>>>>> these young guns. Cotto would box the **** out of ortiz and probably TKO him. Don't get me wrong Ortiz redeemed himself bigtime. But look at who he beat and compare him to cotto. Big step up.

I'd like to see ortiz with mike jones next or **** even clottey.

Cotto is too much for Victor.... lets not get carried away. However, I'd love to see the fight happen. It would be very very entertaining.

I think Cotto would be too much right now...that'd be throwing Victor to the dogs right away...

And Victor hasn't fought at 154 yet...just because he was 161 doesn't mean he'd do ok at 154...

Just had a tough fight...if he doesn't rematch Berto they'll prob throw him a stiff...or a lower level ranked welter...
