Ortiz can come close to being a HOF iF.....

In his next fight he goes down in weight to fight Maidana for his belt, if he wins 2 things happen, He redeems himself with that big win, and becomes a 2 division champion. What do you guys think?

nah, ortiz always did look too muscular to be a light welterweight.

That's 21 pounds we're talking about here. I don't see it happening. Maidana moving up doesn't seem like that much of a big deal anyway.

Ortiz is too big for his own good. I think Mayweather will choose him to make him look silly and say he's come back.

screw that, let maidana come to him at 147. ortiz needs to stay in WW and take over that division.
zaveck, senchenko, solomon, jones, alvarado, and brook are people he needs to go after...
if he can be great, possibly unfy some WW belts, he can choose to move up to 154. i think he can do just as good there. 147 and 154 are victor's only weight classes where i think he can do good in.

ortiz doesn't have to move back down to 140 lbs to fight maidana. ortiz already redeemed himself by knocking off that overpaid hype-job berto.

ortiz/maidana can happen at 147 lbs.

to become a HOFer, all he has to do is beat both wifebeater and pac.

            also....

Maidana has the WBA interim belt. Or do we now consider winning the interim belt as being a 2 division champ as well?
