Because I've said since day one that this is a poor fight, and that the only reason I don't fault him for taking it is because his hand is forced because it's a mandatory.
There's nothing he can do about it.
That doesn't make Rahman a better opponent, it makes him a guy Vitali needs to get out of the way before he can fight other title holders.
As I've said every time this came up in the past, Rahman is John Ruiz's left overs.
In his last meaningful fight, Rahman was thoroughly and clearly outpointed by John Ruiz.
Again, did you even watch Rahman's fight with Barrett?
It was a disgrace.
It was only a year before that he struggled to beat Al Cole 96-94 in a ten round fight.
How in the **** did he struggle with Barrett, the guy wouldn't fight, he won the fight, period.
Are you (predictably) building this up as a career win for Vitali?
The only reason this fight is even remotly tolerable is because it's a mandatory.
Maybe you missed Rahman struggling with Barrett and Al Cole.
Man, I cannot believe it, but I agree with you for the first time. I think though, that Rahman vs. Barrett was fixed. I don't see that fight being that pathetic for any other reason.
Who would it take to fight, for Vitali to be ok in your book?
Any other title holder, James Toney, or Peter if he beats Wlad.
And it has nothing to do with being "okay in my book".
It's the fact he was given the ring belt in a fight it never should have been sanctioned for, and the fact the guy gets so much overwhelming hype and acclaim when the best wins on his resume are Larry Donald, a fat Kirk Johnson, and an old and out of shape Corrie Sanders.
The division has 4 title holders, and they all need to face each other and unify before one is proclaimed better than the other.

If Peter beats Wlad, who you obviously have discontent for, and in most eyes, doesnt even deserve a title shot, he's cool? I dont get that one. I agree that all the title holders need to face each other.
