Hopefully he can make some noise now in the WW division.
Big surprise, you bought the Berto hype.

The guy earned it. When he lost and struggled it was as a young prospect which he was and he was over hyped so the stage he failed on was much bigger. For gim to comeback and prove everybody wrong and fight like a complete different fighter. He was taking shots as well, kept getting up.

Apology Victor Ortiz, I owe you 60 bucks when you fight on PPV, great fight, **** was more theatrical than the Lights Out finale and it was real. 100% impressed with both guys. Watched with a group of very casual fans and the energy in the room was louder than the arena people were into the fight for the first ti9me in along time the fight was the best part.

I never jumped on the hate Ortiz wagon after the Maidana fight. But I was also cautious of giving Ortiz the benefit of the doubt especially after seeing the way he fought in the bouts after. I'm glad he redeemed himself the right way tonight though. Hopefully, boxing fans can take it easy on him.

I actually never bought into the Berto hype. Actually I have been a very big Berto detractor here on these forums. I just thought that much less of Ortiz going into the fight

However, the one and ONLY aspect I liked about Berto. Is that Collazo fight I felt he dug deep and won the championship rounds that he needed to win that fight. That's the only thing I ever liked about Berto. And, not only did I think that Ortiz wasn't tough, didn't have heart, or a warrior mentality. But, I also thought Maidana somewhat ruined him, took some of "Viciousness" away from Ortiz.

I still think I was right about Berto, he's not that good, leaky defense, pretty hyped up. But, still showed toughness and heart in this fight.

So I still feel I was right about Berto.

However, I was totally, very wrong about Ortiz.

I apologize Vic for doubting your fighting heart and application to the task.

Ofc, I knew Ortiz was the better skilled fighter with the stronger beard, but the big outstanding question-mark over him in this fight concerned his heart (after walking out of a fight when it was still winnable, 2 years ago). Between the 5th and 6th, I was impressed by his fire, but I remember consciously thinking that his heart was still to be fully tested in the fight and sort of urging Berto to do it so we could see if Vic would rise to it.

Then that 6th, LOLOL. Ortiz passed the test.

                I'm happy to be surprised.
