    Bob Arum

was watching the documentary Assault in the ring and at one point Arum comes on and says referring to luis resto "he should be banned forever" hmm and this was when Resto was pleading his innocence and yet when one of his own fighters gets caught with blocks in his gloves he gets rewarded after a year lay off with what's looking like back to back world title shots with a nice financial slice of the pie to go with them,it's totally and utterly disgusting!

Bob is 10x's worse than Don King.

At least Don made the big fights happen...he didn't care who won because he was leaving with the winner anyway.

King made sure the undercards were always STACKED..unlike the trash Top Rank passes off as an undercard.

That was good for the sport and the fans.

          BIG FIGHTS got made...

He had no reason TO DUCK CERTAIN FIGHTERS because he was promoting the winner.

Compare that to Top Rank...where fighters are PROTECTED and SMART fans are left wanting.

Top Rank undercards SUCK with such consistency you could set your watch to it.

it's a valid point but could easily have happened and personally i think Arum would still have protected Margarito.

As well, we should ALL note that the gloves were not "LOADED". They had legal cotton/ gauze pads. The illegality comes when they were found to be used instead of new. Because they were used, they were slightly stiffened with dried sweat. There were 2 substances found on them, which were also noted to be 2 of the components of Plaster of Paris. They were ALSO noted to be found in MANY other manufacured items, especially COSMETICS.
This includes Talcum Powder. It could easily have been a cosmetic cream he rubbed on his knuckles.

Why didn't they find ALL the components of Plaster of Paris...........??

And, as we all know, or should know, the trainer took complete blame swearing that Margarito paid no attention to the wrapping of his fists, a commonplace thing for him, done many thousands of times before. And Margarito swore he did not pay attention, and did not know. Because intent could not be proven, he was NOT banned for life, but suspended in the US only, for 1 year.

Of course the many gossip hounds with which BoxingScene is absolutely stifled with, just keep talking about "loaded" gloves, "Cheato", and etc.

There was no Commission decision as to whether the used pad WOULD have contributed to an advantage for Margarito. WHY NOT?? I don't believe it would have, even if it had been REAL Plaster of Paris, because the experiments done by Nat Fleischer and a group of famous boxing writers and analysts, re-enacting Jack Dempsey's supposed Plaster of Paris bandages for the Willard fight proved CONCLUSIVELY, once and for all, that the solidly plastered bandages would break up into powder after a few punches on a gym bag.

It was all thoroughly investigated, re-enacted and reported in RING many years ago. I think the Commission over re-acted re Margarito, who should just have been warned to pay attention to his bandages in the future.

I'm not saying that Margarito didn't know, but that there was NO proof that he did, and anyway there was no evidence that using these "loaded' pads would have caused any damage his fists couldn't.

Why don't people just read the reports and pick out the facts, instead of romancing???

What "blocks" are you referring to. I've read all the news and reports on this matter and never yet saw an official, publicly published (I don't mean a boxing web site) that there were "blocks" of any kind found.

I'd like a link to this report so that conclusive proof can be established and spread.

What cosmetics contain Sulfur? Fiber reinforced plaster of Paris is very strong and hard. Name me One fighter that would agree to let his opponent wrap with Plaster of Paris wrapped reinforcement? I would call that answer conclusive!!!
