If Ortiz beats Berto should we jump back on the bandwagon?

There was a time i'd have given this fight to Ortiz hands down, even moving up in weight. But Ortiz has looked scared in all his fights since Maidana, and Berto has looked great against decent (not great) but decent competition.

I think berto takes it, but does that mean if Ortiz wins, he's back? Or does he have to win convincingly, by dramatic KO or something?

What are we looking to see from Ortiz in this fight? (his retirement?)

yeah this is certainly a make or break fight for Ortiz. A win would completely redeem himself for his loss to maidana and his lackluster performance against Peterson and a lot of people would jump back on the wagon.

A loss I think it's pretty devastating. That's why I don't understand why Golden Boy would put him in with berto in his first WW fight. It's like they came to the same conclusion and are saying **** it - if he wins, great. If he loses, we're done with him.

I must be alone in thinking this fight cant break Ortiz.

I cant see him winning, he isnt favor to win... he is expected to lose...

To me it just means WW is too big for him and he needs to stay at JR ww.. not that he sucks.

not a good look for him if he loses again, especially if it's a TKO/KO. He's bulked up so I don't if he would want to go back down to 140 but if he did you know he's like the 4th or 5th best guy there maybe, so like he said he'll be a gatekeeper at that point.

Yup. If Ortiz wins this, he will have redeemed himself and people will start believing in him again. On top of that, alot of boxing fans don't like Berto.

Ortiz is never gonna go back to 140. He has outgrown that weight. He has always been a 147 fighter, IMO. Roach had said this in '09.

I support most of the talented American boxers regardless of wins or loses, and Vic has always been one of the guys I though could be a break out star. Some fighters have to take the road less traveled, but his resume is beginning to shape up nicely.

Im on board with Vic already. Hell even Duran quit once and he wasnt even hit very hard. Its just as much a make or break fight for both fighters which makes it a great event. I think Berto has way more to lose because he's the champ. All Vic has to do to stay relevent is make Berto earn it the hard way.

if ortiz wins, it means that berto is a hypejob.

It all depends how be wins for me. I need too see Ortiz taken into deep water before I jump on the bandwagon. I've seen the kids skills and there is no doubt there, but we al know where the doubt lays with him.

I'm looking fwd to this fight big time and I'm not a fan of either fighter, but this could the springboard one of these guys needs and one is going home, should be good
