Comments Thread For: Mundine Gets Revenge, Drops Wood Twice To Secure Win

At the Brisbane Entertainment Centre in Queensland, Australia, former champion Anthony Mundine (41-4, 24KOs) staged a late rally in the final two rounds to secure a unanimous ten round decision win over Garth Wood (10-2-1, 6KOs). The judges saw it 96-92, 96-92 and 95-93. Wood went down twice in the final two rounds and lost a point for fouls, which provided a huge shift in points for Mundine. Last December at Acer Arena, Wood scored a shocking knockout over Mundine in five rounds.

It was Mundine who had a point taken in the 10th; not Wood.

Just went to the pub to watch the card and did not see 2 fighters who could fight in the ring at the same time. Its a wonder how some of these fights get sanctioned. And in the last round i thought both fighters were deducted a fight but the judges scored it as if no points were deducted, unless there were a couple of even rounds amongst it.

In my opinion Mundine controlled most of the action but was too quiet and gave a bad perception to the judges by sitting on the ropes too much and complaining to the referee constantly. He is talking about going to america but i think he should hang them up on the end of a pretty solid career and after rectifying his most embarassing defeat.

Seriously, it says twice in the article that Wood had a point taken in the 10th...which is erroneous. That's just irresponsible reporting.

Mundine scored a legitimate knockdown in the 10th, making it 10-8 - but then had a point taken for holding after repeated warnings. It came at an odd time, after Wood had tackled him against the ropes...but it was very clearly Mundine who received the deduction, making it a 9-8 round for him.

There was really no ambiguity about it. Mundine received the point deduction. The author must have not been paying rapt attention during that moment, and just guessed to fill in the blank.

Not surprising in the least. I always check the comments on obscure fights like this after reading a results story to make sure the reporting was accurate.

            Thanks for the clarification.

Good for Mundine to get his revenge.

                NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

oh well...this means that Mundine will probably keep fighting...which is more chance of him getting KOed.
