I have always wanted to be a rapper, too. I will probably be a badass in a couple of years. Rap sucks today. Whatever happened to B***** Ain't S***. Everything now is commercial. Anyways, my influences are Bone-Thugz and West Coast Gansta Rap (N.W.A, Compton's Most Wanted, etc.). I would probably rap about robbing liquor stores, I don't know yet. I would call everybody out, get shot...i'd be a millionaire. I like rap when they sample badass stuff from the 70's, like Parliament or Funkadelic, and even some of the R&B from back then. Hell yeah. I still haven't ruled out being World Champion one day.

But that hasn’t stopped Ortiz from finding time to develop a second career as a rapper (“Mr. Ortiz”). Under Kash Rock entertainment, Ortiz has released the radio-aimed first single “Catwalk.”

The song is a clichéd club track down to its autotune effects. Ortiz rap vocals do sound much assertive than his regular voice. Whether due to studio tweaking or his own adjustments, the high pitch of his speaking voice is absent. As expected, his rhymes are very simple, but he doesn’t embarrass himself on this first effort. He won’t have anyone clamoring for his next song, but it’s not a horrible first attempt from someone who’s obviously a novice.

Think we’ll get an Andre Berto or Marcos Maidana diss record? A Roy Jones-Victor Ortiz collab? No word yet on if a video is coming for “Catwalk.”

What’s your take? Should Ortiz hang it up? Does this make you want to see him get KO’d next weekend?

You can listen to the song at the end of the article on this page

          That's just good music.

i'm not hating on the man for doing his thing, especially with music, but that isnt hip hop, it's pop music, and lacks any real originality, it's just a clone of a clone, of a clone, of a clone, that is already out there in the diluted music industry.

with that being said, he's doing his thing and the more he does it the more he has a chance at finding his own real sound and his own real vibe and feel with the music.... hopefully....

music today is crap, there is no feeling, no soul, no creativity, and nothing original anymore, at least on the lame mainstream, but the lamestream isnt about real music, and it isnt about artistry and integrity, it's about selling crap, crap ideas, and a crap way of thinking..........

autotune???? ****ing seriously? how hack is that. i could go on for at least two years about how lame, schitty, crappy, and horrific autotune is, and how it is the savior to those who can't sing or have no vocal talent......... remember you schmos autotune is what resurrected Cher's comeback career......... and that crap was ridiculous......... let alone all the other brainwashing drivel that they call music using the autotune......

do your thing, but at least BE ORIGINAL, quit trying to copy some crap and quit trying to polish a turd............
