What pisses me off is the media coverage!
I live in Seattle and there will be no write up before or after the Castillo vs. Corrales fight, yet there will be a little blurp about Hector Camacho get busted for Coke or Rid**** Bowe's fight result with Billy Zumbrum. This is bull**** and has a profound effect on how regular sports fans look at the sport.
Then...you talk to a buddy and he asks if Tyson is fighting anytime soon or he saw that Bowe was back or he read that Camacho got busted and you shake your head...you say Castillo and Corrales are fighting again in October and he says who the **** are they? He then asks you if Holyfield is fighting?
The media wont cover what they dont know and they dont know boxing at least where Im from, how could the Seattle Times not do a right up on a fight like Castillo vs. Corrales? They wont therefore the regular sports fan who reads the sunday paper will never ever no about what is really going on.
I know some places cover the sport alot better than Seattle but Seattle is the 11th biggerst market in the damn country and the media over here has elected to play dumb when it comes to our beloved sport.

I used to hate on fighters for strange reasons. I love this sport, and I suppose being critical is a part of it......respectively if you are sincere and level headed about accusations. To me, there is no reason to demean or disrespect a guy who steps into the ring and risks his health and reputation. Many times fighters are critiqued based on their choice of opposition faced, compensation they demand, and who their opponent is......meaning a fan will insult the opposition simply out of principle. To me, this is a thing of the past.
There are fighters who people should be critical of. I will give you an instance......and that is Ricardo Mayorga. However hard he tries to gain public approval (which I dont think matters to him: per say) he fails in the ethics department. People like him for his willingness to trade punches, excellent chin, and wild ring antics/lifestyle. What I do believe however....he is a disgrace and embarrasment to the sport. He called Vernon Forrest a "Pendejo" right after he knocked him out. Not only does that show ZERO class......it also shows unsportsmanship, and a disregard for human character.
Boxing has contributors and thieves. Mayorga is a thief, because he takes away what is good about boxing. A guy like DLH is contributor. He made a name for himself, respects fans and media, and is a big part of this sport we love.
Gotta respect the guy and fighters like him. Vice Versa for Ricardo Mayorga.

Tons of ignorance on this thread.
Yes, boxers are the only atheletes who ever struggle, who ever perform their craft hurt. All other sports suck ass and everyone who doesn't box is a pusyy ******.
There are a lot of ****** people on this board.

Why is it acceptable to call someone a dumbass right after you knocked them out? especially when they never said anything derogatory about you.
Oh yeah......and what makes Mayorga so special? If anything he is a overhyped HBO creation. Outside of Forrest....he has never won a big fight.

Being called a pendejo whenever is apart of trash talking, a key component of sports.
Mayorga isnt overhyped. He isnt getting his own PPVs here hes headlining the card?
What about overhyped fighters? Klitschkos? Gatti? I swear Gatti has 9 lives cause he keeps getting KTFO but somehow appears right back in the fold.
