  • Comments Thread For: Marco Antonio Rubio Eyes a Sergio Martinez Showdown

    Fresh from his shocking victory, Marco Antonio Rubio (50-5, 43KOs) is ready for much bigger fights. Last Friday at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada, Rubio entered a hostile enviorment as a very big underdog. He stayed patient for the first few rounds and secured a very unexpected result when he stopped previously unbeaten knockout artist David Lemieux (25-1, 24KOs) in the seventh round.

      Martinez might fight him because he isn't his mandatory. Martinez is scared to fight his mandatories because he ducked his last 2 (which included Pirog)

        Martinez doesn't need to duck Pirog, it's an easy nights work for him.

            WOW....Either Rubio Knows something we don't or he is a confident mothha***a! This is the way I see it. He is already in line to fight CHAVEZ(if jr. wins in june). He would become a superstar if he beats either CHAVEZ jr or Martinez. I would opt to fight JR the easier opponent.

            But to tell you the truth. . . Beating Martinez or even putting up a GREAT performance (without getting KO...Example:Morales/Maidana) Would put him up their.

            The Lemieux victory lifted him up after the Pavlik loss a couple fights back. His confidence must be up their....

            I'm a fight fan ::: FAK IT!!! do the fight. Martinez/rubio sounds better than ChavezJr/rubio anywayz.

            RUBIO----------> HBO HERE WE COME.

              Rubio gets ****d by Martinez, Lemiuex is still much of a threat to Martinez than Rubio style wise. I also agree that MArtinez dont want non of Pirog!!!!

                HBO won't buy Pirog/Martinez...plain and simple. he ain't ducking...it's business.

                Pirog is good...but Maravilla kills that Euro.

                  Don't be silly, what more has Pirog done than Rubio has done which is beat an untested prospect not to mention Rubio being much more proven at MW and Pirog being handed a belt for no reason that Sergio actually won in the ring against the real MW champ at the time.

                    probably the WBC is behind this. Rubio automatically gets a crack at the Chavez-Zbik fight, and WBC probably thinks Rubio is too much of a risk for Chavez, so they'll feed him to the "super duper WBC" champion in Martinez.
