    Interim champion of the world

Why on earth do they present belts to the winner of Interim title fights? Also, Maidana now thinks he’s world champion! Ridiculous !

Interim means you automatically become champion if the current title holder doesn’t fight you as a mandatory defence. If he does agree to fight then you have to beat him! Beat him and THEN you’re the champion.

This interim business is just another gloriously overcomplicated rule in an already saturated boxing rulebook

Its basically a belt they give to no1 contenders.

I don't know what an interim 'champion' is, just some bs to get another sanctioning fee.

When Khan and Bradley fight then we'll know who the champion at 140 is, all the other belts and bs titles are meaningless.

How Maidana is still interim champion is beyond me, when he lost to Khan he should at least have dropped to #2 contender, it wasnt a robbery or disputed decision, it was a genuine loss

Agreed, how does Maidana go back to being no1 contender after losing to Khan and beating someone outside the WBA top ten rankings?

They gonna force a rematch on Khan?

Maidana was given another shot by the WBA because TV loved his last fight and it’s further exposure for the WBA. I know, sad, isn’t it.

Boxing doesn’t need all this interim business. Ok, i except the need to for more than one champ (too many contenders per weight class for there to be one champion), however, even that is highly disputed, and i wouldn’t argue with any of you on here for disagreeing with me on that point.

Boxing wants people to become it’s fans, but it wallows in rule after rule, each conceived by sanctioning bodies to obtain one-up-man ship and extra money (so much for their non-profit organisation stance)

Interim champion means nothing in my book. Just means you get a title shot, and that means NOTHING unless you beat the champion.
