It was a temple shot knockout.

Solis was badly hurt, wobbled and knocked out by a beautiful hard half uppercut/half hook counter punch. He never saw the punch coming. The temple shot fucked up Solis' equilibrium, disoriented him and made BOTH his legs turn to jelly.

Vitali's Ironfist shattered Solis' glass temple in the 1st round.

Vitali Klitschko: "I was inside the ring and I saw many, many times on video - the fight, and there is only one clear answer. I prepared the punch, half uppercut/half hook. I prepared this punch and I feel that I hit him pretty hard. Solis was knocked out, what happened after that, where he breaks his ligaments or his knee - it's his problem. I'm sorry the fight was so short. The next fight, I promise not to hit my opponent for the first three rounds, and then I'll knock him out. With Solis there are no excuses, this was a knockout punch"

It cracks me up when some senile greezer pretends these clowns:

Would live through 4 rounds with Vitali. The technique, nutrition, etc back then was in the stone ages and beating up every guy within a 3-state proximity of you made you "undisputed world champion".

Prime/healthy Vitali humiliates any other boxer in history, inclu. his brother who has excellent conditioning and technique but just lacks the "immovable stone pillar" thing Vitali has going on, Lewis comes close but even he was getting spanked before the infamous cut

Wladimir knocked Chambers out with 1 left hook to the very top of his head, totally different punch but it landed in the same place

Emmanuel Steward has said lots of times the brothers's styles specifically revolve around hard punches that land at unexpected angles/spots. Getting hit full force on the top of your skull like that will whip your neck sideways in a very violent way.

In addition to Wlad's Chambers KO, Watch the slow motion highlights of the Arreola fight, Vitali lets a guy walk in then does the "half uppercut half hook" thing while his opponent is winding up and it works about 9 times out of 10, Arreola walked into about 500 of them, Solis couldn't handle 1, Arreola is tough

Annnnd on amore negative note... Vitali has slowed down a hell of a lot the past couple years, time to look for a sincere retirement fight before his zillions of "wehhh but he's not a gold toothed hobo who throws haymakers and cracks mama jokes constantly" critics have an actual loss to nitpick

To answer the Op's question..... Vitali Klitschko throws punches in bunches because he CAN. YoU SIMPLY CAN't stop him from doing so because he's got: 1) Size advantage over most anyone he faces. 2)His UNIQUE style enables him to punch at you from every angle that you can't. 3) The distance he keeps from you & his fighting stance enables him to be in position to hit you before you can hit him. 3a)His left hand is held very low & away from his body... & it's ALREADY HALFWAY to you before you can react to it. 3b)He has COMPLETE trust in his reflexes & footwork & knows he can lean back out of harms way at any given moment. 3c) ALL this with his right hand ready to strike you..****ed & loaded if you make a wrong move & the jab doesn't keep you at bay. 4) He simply believes & trusts in the FACT he'll get off his punches more than his opponent NO MATTER WHAT...... WHEN the day comes where he gets outlanded..or outthrown in any fight is the day he no longer has it.. 5) The last line of defense... go ahead even if you shoot your absolute best shot.. he can absorb it regardless but the plan is to hit & not get hit & no one does this at a higher clip in the history of the division.
