I think he should have let it go. Kirkland has the power to change a fight in one shot. I agree he didnt look very hurt, more just caught off guard because the guy kept landing at will on him because of his reach.

I think the fight was prematurely ended. I don't think Kirkland was really hurt, just caught some unexpected hits. I think he figured that Golden Boy lined up some powder puff who'll cave as they walk into the ring. I think the fight would have went Kirkland's way after he got a moment to regroup in the corner.

Either way, he should have been given the benefit of the doubt to see what kind of heart he has when the going gets tough. Cortez didn't give him the opportunity to get up, which was suspect
