    Kirkland over hyped???

I keep hearing about how James Kirkland was over hyped, but to be honest, I can't remember that many people making that big of a deal about him. Of course he has been talked about, just getting out of prison and all, but who ever said he was the next great champion? Do you guys think he was over hyped? I always thought he was good but not that good. He was definitely no up and coming Tyson.

He is what he is. A defenseless, china chinned brawler. He'll defy make for some good fights in the near future, not to mention he'll be on the giving and receiving end of some pretty brutal KOs.

People alwyas like to exaggerate how over hyped fighters were....it makes their point more valid when they eventually lose......

I hear posters say ****** stuff like "oh, but people were saying that Kirkland would batter Martinez"...when in fact, only one or two dimwit posters said it

To be honest he was legitimately hyped. He was KOing his opposition and looking spectacular. He was the first one to stop Julio which made people talk about him even more. But doesnt sound like he will be a future star when you're getting Ko'd on comeback from jail tuneup fight

I agree he was hyped to a certain degree, like most undefeated fighters are. But for everyone to be laughing at Kirkland and Americans for over hyping him, I don't see that justifiable. I don't recall everyone making that big of a deal about him. I don't recall hearing he was the next great champion. I'm sure there were a few that did, but the majority of us? I didn't see that.
