The sport itself was booming in America, when Boxing was The Sport and states, cities, towns had boxing gyms all over America. But that's coming to an end. No more 100,000 sold out stadiums like in the 30's, 40's and 50's.

No more huge support from African-Americans to black fighters like Joe Louis. Gyms are evaporating all over the States. The Boxing program itself is very weak down here.

Other countries have strong Amateur Boxing programs to send their guys off into the Olympics and bring them Gold Medals. None of that here. Football, Basketball, Baseball and just the overall mainstream Entertainment (whether from Hollywood or somewhere else) has overshadowed Boxing as a sport.

Americans have a fine boxing history but your television networks have effectively crippled present day professional boxing.

I'm interested to see if the USA will produce a good crop of amateur talent at the 2012 Olympics in London.
