Don't pay Pacquiao and Mayweather idiot nuthuggers any attention, All these green fighters would struggle against a season pro like Martinez and when he beats them they would say those guys were green, The same idiots who were banding Pirog's name around too, just because Martinez wanted a fight with the top two guys. -
Personally I never understood some of the hype Kirkland got. Most people didn't rate him much higher than a prospect but some had him deserving title shots and calling him one of the best at 154. We'll see if he recovers from this loss like Khan did.Comment

People overreact all the time in both directions. One day Kirkland is a top 5 pound-for-pound, the next day he's a bum who is nothing more than a club fighter.
I've liked him, never suggested he should be in with a Martinez class fighter (YET), and knew he has to make some changes to truly be elite. He needs a new training regimine and he needs to change up the way he fights (maintain the agressiveness, but damn dude, don't put your chin out there on a silver platter).
This loss may be very good for his career. I hope he reanalyzes, throws what he's currently doing away, and starts over.
He's a physical beast, he has power, and he's agressive. That's all stuff you can't teach. With some schooling I think he can be elite. I have to question his chin (who doesn't?) but if he wasn't so easy to hit I don't think it would be a major issue.Comment

I don't recall a gaggle of folks predicting a Kirkland win let alone KO of Martinez.
Some thought he might put up an entertaining fight prior to getting KTFO, but considering what just happened, maybe we were wrong about that.Comment
