Also true, but to be honest i was shocked at how well Morales was able to slip a lot of Maidana's punches on the inside. Khan is a bit of a stationary target and not as good of a fighter on the inside as Morales.

Also a possibilty, but i doubt it cause Maidana is too young to be worn out in 1 fight.

Honestly I think Maidana has power, but very basic boxing ability. I found it laughable when the HBO announcers were trying to compare him to MAB. MAB had solid boxing ability from the start and that what made him such a great brawler, same for Morales. I think Maidana needs to polish up his skills and he'd truly be a force in boxing.

          Now...

Maidana took Khans best shots, right? Khan is a big, strong & Fast jww & still he wasnt as hurt as often as he was against Morales, why is that?

Khan was tagging him left and right, but besides the body shot in the first he didn't seem to hurt Maidana that badly.

What does Morales have that Khan didn't?
Being the hardest or quickest hitter in the weight division means nothing if you don't have the skills to land punches.

Morales knows how to control distance, so a one-dimensional fighter like Maidana can't get the proper leverage, timing, and openings to do any real damage.

Erik was making Marcos look silly on the inside, and Amir was taking uppercut sandwiches in the pocket from Marcos. It's the difference between all time skills and good skills.

Maidana had all the physical advantages except for chin. Skills were the only thing keeping Erik in there. Marcos was clowned on by a one eyed man well above his weight class that shouldn't even be boxing anymore.

Maidana was ill-trained and poorly conditioned in this fight. He was already gasping for breath in the early rounds. He came in to go for the kill and wasn't focused on going the distance. I thought Maidana was going to get ko'd in the middle rounds just out of sheer exhaustion. (Reminded me of Marquez's trainer who Maidana wanted for this fight.)

As for the difference between Khan's and Morales' punches, I think Morales' are more unexpected. They are Morales' typical punches after having gotten big blows that would make most boxers lose time before responding.

roach is a decent trainer, but he doesn't know how to teach his fighters how to fight on the inside. Just look at his greatest creation manny for a prime example and then Amir.

I was watching Robert Garcia tape the other day. He spoke about how it's easier to get hit on the inside. Instead of keeping your hands high like you do for the outside, you drop them lower underneath your chin. This will partially block uppercuts and reduce their inertia. You should also stand at an angle behind your shoulder, similar to Floyd and James Toney, and have the shoulder close to you opponent's chest. This will further protect you. How often do you see Mayweather get hit with an uppercut? Rarely. manny and Amir DO THE COMPLETE OPPOSITE by SQUARING UP and using the "EAR MUFF" GUARD in the pocket. They pay for it by eating uppercut sandwiches like Subway is running a 2 for $5 special.

Khan isnt necessarily strong but when the combos add up the damage takes its toll.

Most of his KO's are TKO Normally there all 3 knockdowns its his speed and accuracy that troubles opponents and not many fighters can take flush shots on the chin one after the other in split seconds

power, khan is feather fisted IMO, those guys that concentrate on speed don't worry about connecting and following through, exception being Pac....
