What did you score Maidana vs Morales?

    Friend had it 116 - 112 Morales

    I had it 115 - 113 Morales, would of accepted split decision/draw.

We both thought that Morales clean combinations were more flush and effective, although Maidana had very good body work.

How did you score? Was a tough fight to score.

I had it as a draw, some rounds are hard to score, Morales definately threw cleaner better shots, but maidiana was the agrressor.

I didn't score it, but to me people got to awed with Morales little comebacks. Maidana would do all the work, land all the punches and Morales would come back with a few, and the crowd would go crazy. I thought it was scored just right at 116-112.

I had Morales up two or a three rounds. I just don't think Maidana had much on his shots at all.

Many, if not all of Morales punches that were landed on Maidana were flush and clean with great snap on them. Maidana's punches are opposite. He pushes with his punches, regardless if he's fatigued or not. What happens with pushing punches is that they are nullified quite easily. Note how when Morales was seemingly struck by Maidana's shots, he took them very well. This is because Erik was rolling and moving along the same direction as the punches were coming from. A fighter who used this tactic extremely well in the past was Roberto Duran. This tactic ultimately takes off the majority of the steam on the punch rendering the punch almost ineffective in comparison to a punch that has pop. Pushing punches are really only good on the inside with short range and if the target is meeting the punch half-way. Compare Maidana's right hand with Hearn's right hand. Maidana pushes with it with great natural force, where as Hearn's uses an extreme amount of snap. It's very hard to take the steam off a snapping punch, which is why Hearn's right hand was so dangerous. If Maidana had pop on his punches, who would have put Erik away, no questions. I had Erik up by 2-3 rounds because Maidana was smothering his own punches, wasn't landing clean, and when he did land, Erik was moving with the punch rendering Maidana's punch less effective than what was landed on himself.
