  • Maidana put in a shocking performance and didn't take Morales seriously

He took Morales lightly, and payed the price for it. Maidana lackluster performance didn't impress me at all, and was even lucky to get a decision from a fighter 25% of his former-self. Maidana made Morales look good, Morales is slow, doesn't have his reflexes anymore, and is well past is sell by date.

I can't believe people want to see Khan or Marquez fight Morales. They will pick him apart, Khan is way to fast for an old Morales, and Marquez is still a great technician despite his age.

Morales showed his age last night, but still has boxing ability and ring IQ. The physical side of Morales is completely shot, he looked ever so slow in there and doesn't possess the ability from years ago.

I'm taking nothing away from Morales, he impressed me to a certain degree but Maidana wasn't in great condition at all, and obviously underestimated a shot Morales.

Maidana has went down in my estimation. I really do think he made a mistake getting rid of his former trainer Diaz. Maidana will lose his next big fight judging from what I witnessed, so the downward slope starts here for him unless he drastically changes his attitude.

hahaha damn you beat me too it. Just made a thread while you posted this one.

I think it's terrible he's taking opponents lightly. He believes the hype. Thought he'd easily spark out Morales & Khan and ended up looking average and beatable. It's ridiculous. He's obviously the 3rd best in the division behind Khan and Bradley but it just seems like he doesn't take his opponents seriously.

I love him, love his style but the man needs to stop thinking *****s cake and actually handle his bidness.

No, Morales is just that amazing.

He can do things just running on the fumes of his Greatness.

      Period.

        Ha!

But seriously, I seem to be getting the vibe Morales is back in business - he isn't. Marquez would beat Morales with ease.

Maidana didn't look like he trained for the full 12 rounds and fought he'd end the fight early, boy was he wrong.

Morales is a great fighter and would pick apart Maidana in his better days. I just think Morales was made to look good against a one dimensional Maidana, who obviously didn't take the fight to seriously

I expected more from Maidana but it was easily his poorest fight to date. Maidana looked tired and disorientated in the second half of the fight, I'd even say he didn't want to be in there.

Really disappointed in Maidana, he was terrible.

Morales made him puff and blow and look terrible by giving him a fight. The pure craft he was showing in there forced that level of exertion from Maidana. An exceution of old-school skill and technique.

I disagree. Maidana just isn't that good. Khan without the shaky chin, that fight would of been one sided and Maidana ducked the Bradley fight last summer. He's good and will beat majority of fighters but he isn't elite, he can certainly be beat by anyone on any given night. There's a class difference between Bradley, Khan and even Alexander compared to Maidana. Maidana is way too limited as a fighter.

I don't think Maidana is the heavy hitter everybody makes him out to be. He's hits hard but isn't a 1 hitter quitter like everybody wants to make him out to be. Morales put on a hell of an effort but the TS is right. Anybody can look good against a sloppy wild man like Maidana as long as they punch straight. Marquez would beat him no doubt.

He isn't that good, absolutely. Maidana only knows one thing and that is to knock his opponents out, but Maidana wasn't in the same condition he was against Khan. He looked slower and gassed after the 6'th odd round, his legs looked heavy in the latter half to.

I feel bad that some want to see Morales fight the likes of Khan, JMM, Judah. They would annihilate an old Morales and I for one don't want to see it.

Maidana is limited no doubt, Power seems to be overrated but i still see him as a dangerous fight for anybody he is in your face the whole fight.

Wouldn't surprise me if Maidana looked a lot better in his next fight, maybe wishfall thinking who knows?,

where is maidana getting all this heat from? i've never noticed anyone hype him up the way you guys talk about him in hindsight as if it were fact... he was never regarded as this master boxer with one punch KO power, some of you seem like you were born yesterday. maidana fans just expect an exciting, hellacious fight from him no matter what with both fighters coming out it bloodied and bruised, just as what we got tonight. he has a will to win and has the power to do it. no one said he was the next ali or george foreman and if anything, all this nonsense stem from the bad hype his opponents manage to put upon themselves before maidana even fights them. it's a lose-lose situation for him. if he doesn't live up to his opponent's critics it's because "he wasn't that good anyway" and if he does "see, a glass jaw" or "see, he's old."
