I don't think this means much, David just got 22 years old and he already has 25 pro fights, he his not in his physical prime yet, he doesn't look strong enough yet to go in this kind of war, if he was being dominated i would lose faith a bit but that was not the case, he was really battering Rubio, the kid was just too agressive and looking too much for the KO and he got caught by a good punch in the 5th or 6th, i think his orbital bone broke and he just became even more agressive and got caught. I don' know, maybe it would have been a good experience for him to continue the fight and suffer a little, maybe he could have recovered and start boxing more but i understand the corner, something was wrong with his face, a bone was cracked or something, it was unnessesary risk.
I did not have the feeling that Lemieux was slowing down at all, he just got caught being too agressive, nothing humility and good gameplan cannot fix.
This is just one of those hurdles that young fighters need to overcome.
It often happens to guys who are not tested before being required to step up.
Seriously, how did a couple dozen first-round blow-outs prepare him for Rubio?
Loading up on his punches and going for broke was an obvious flaw that would have been exploited by the first tough contender/gatekeeper that came along, a highly skilled fighter like Martinez would have blitzed him.
it sure did prove it....rubio had a very good gameplan and was tough enough to have stuck to it considering the punishment he was getting in the earlier rounds....patience and experience is a motha****a...
And he had the nerve to say he would have an easy time beating Martinez and saw a lot of flaws in Bute that he could exploit. Yeah right. Could dish it out but he couldn't take it. Thats what happens when you fight no-hopers and won't leave your comfy canada.
I have actually agreed with your last 3 posts.
*** knows how that happened
Try telling that to your fellow *******s, who all accused Martinez of ducking Lemieux a few days back.
It is not experience that overcame power it was toughness and willingness to endure.
Those can always be key aspects to overcoming a guy with power, which is why it is dangerous to fall in love with your own punching power, because someone out there can take it and is willing to take it to give you something back and if you can't take back what they can dish out you get busted.
Another great win for a Mexican fighter!!!!!!!!Not too long ago people on this website said it would be a bad year for Mexican Fighters. Tyson Marquez, Johnny Gonzalez and now Rubio are keeping Mexican pride high these days!Lol
Not really, will has nothing to do with experience and toughness fades over time it doesn't get better with experience~ so your eye is not on the ball in relation to what happened
Experience is important but it can also lead to over confidence just like physical advantages and experience can only help you do what you can to the best of your abilities, there comes a point when experience does not make up for eroding physical talents and more often than not it does not make up the difference in boxing which is a young mans game~
