I think loses to all of the top dogs.

I can't even picture Martinez next to Froch or Dirrell, or Bute, or Ward.

These are all big 168-pounders. All of them.

Martinez can beat: Froch, Dirrell, Kessler, Ward, Johnson, Green, and Taylor....Bute eats the straight left as he shoots an uppercut....he would beat them all. If he was the same size as them, he'd KO them all.

**Didn't bother mentioning AA because Martinez mugs him blind in a 11-1 UD route

    For a reason.
That reason being? I just thought Pavlik and Williams were the best available at 160.

As much as people would like to see him take on some of the guys at smw, i just don't think he's big enough. His highest weight is 160 lbs and funny enough i haven't seen him fight someone smaller then he is since he's moved up, they've all been taller fighters.

His style isn't made for quick handed opponents as he leaves his chin so vulnerable sometimes when he intentionally leaves his guard down.

He'll do fine against slow sluggers like Bute or Abraham, but Froch and Dirrell would tear him to pieces.
And Froch had speed since when?

?? Bute is a slow slugger?

I say Bute and Dirrell give him hell.

    agreed.

sergio doesnt have the frame to fight at 168, he would either lose speed and stamina bulking up too much or give up plenty of weight to his oponent. either way he wouldnt be nearly as good at 168, on top of that 168 is arguably the best division in boxing right now.

lots of quality fighters, and big guys on top of that. dirrell is a natural Lt.HW with inasane speed, skills and underrated power. bute is freaking huge for 168, has savage one punch KO power and a very high skill level and boxing IQ. froch is big, very strong and physical, great chin, great stamina. ward is just a ****ing beast, atg material for sure and although not very big at 168 clearly comftorable at the weight.

i would favor all of them over martinez, even though he would have a better shot against some than others. johnson and abraham would be no picknick either. im sure martinez could find some success at 168 but ultimately he would lose to the majority of the top fighters imo.

See, I actually think that Dirrell wouldn't pose so much of a threat. While extremely fast, he lacks power for a 168lber. Bute and Abraham would certainly be at a huge disadvantage in terms of speed, and Sergio could probably cruise to a UD.

Froch, I think poses some problems. His poor defense would be easy for Sergio exploit with Sergio's speed. (Jermain Taylor gave Froch a really hard time, and would have won easily had he not gassed down the stretch, IMO.) That being said, Froch has shown a tough beard from what I've seen, and if he could walk Sergio down, I could see him really wearing Sergio down with a tenacious attack.

I think the main question in this debate is, how well would Sergio's power carry over to 168lbs? And if it didn't, would he be able to get by on speed? It's an interesting debate, I've been thinking about for a while.
