Punchers are aggressive and willing to take a punch to land one usually. In their agression that tend to walk into punches unlike defensive fighters. Defensive minded fighters are not willing to get hit and are not willing to take any chances.

Yo bro, didnt Mugabi get flattened out by Terry Norris in Tampa, im guessing in 1991 at 154? Julian Jackson, he too got knocked out in 1993, 94 I believe by Gerald McClellan; both monstrous punchers, but both suffered KO losses

          I always remember Ezra Sellers.

Kind of a journeyman American who fought Johnny Nelson and a few others - that guy could punch holes in walls. However, he really couldn't take anything.

This Ezra Sellers is the very epitome of what the TS is talking about

            won 29 (KO 26) + lost 8 (KO 8) + drawn 0 = 37

            That is some record.

            'I'm not knocking you out?'

            'No'

            'What's the points, then?'

A lot of reasons. Live by the sword, die by the sword. Not only does it ring true, but there are reasons for it.

A power puncher, in a fight that isn't ending the way he anticipated, tends to get frustrated and tired. Both of which leave you open for counters and quite a bit of them.

You also lose a bit of your defense when you constantly swing for the fences. And when someone realizes they can take your punches or at least handle them, they start to take more calculated chances and begin to score. When you're not used to getting hit back, it worries you more than a pure boxer who realizes that he'll be hit, but it's still under control.

Valero and Vitali are arguably the two greatest KO artists ever and neither of them have been KO'd.

But generally I see your point.

Wasn't Maidana at least knocked down 5 times in his career? Also by body punches, but nevertheless.

Punchers also put more weight behind their punches, so if they get countered they're really walking into the punches.
