I feel like a Calzaghe hater. Which is odd, since I spent most of his career defending the guy.

Joe Calzaghe had trinkets in his career and one in particular for 10 years. However, he didn't unify until late in his run and he was only The Ring Magazine champion at the weight for two years. While that's impressive, it's not a decade.

He was the ture Ring Magazine champion at 175 for about a half of a year, but he had only one defense against a pretty badly faded Roy Jones.

He has a quality win over Bernard Hopkins, as Hopkins is still fighting successfully to this day. He also had quality wins over Jeff Lacy and Mikkel Kessler.

Great career. At this point, he's the best Super Middleweight of all time. Pretty easy to say this, actually.

        Greatest of all time? No.

Being undefeated is great. However, is it the most important aspect of a fighters career never losing? Because, if it is, then Nikolay Valuev was on his way to being the best ever. He remained undefeated for as many fights and it was for 12 years. Did he dominate his division? No... but that just PROVES that being undefeated doesn't mean you're even the best in your division. Let alone, the GOAT.

Best ever is objective. But the fact of the matter is that it involves; resume, including quality of TOTAL opposition, skills/technique, longevity and other smaller aspects to a legacy. Your record is rarely worried about as a record means nothing.

I could fight the same bum 100 times and be 100-0. Means nothing. I could fight once and win and have the same winning percentage. It's much more than that.

Often times, some of the best fighters have lost and benefitted from it, especially in the long run. So, the argument that, "this many have tried = this many have failed" is a ****** one.
