He started buying his own hype. The things i was reading the last two days saying he easily beats Bute and Martinez??? You have to stay humble in this sport and keep learning. This was a big wake up call i hope. The kid can punch and it's always interesting to have a power puncher in the division but i dunno about his chin, his defense is also questionable

And this guy had the nerve to say that he would beat Martinez? Yeah... I guess I can see when you KO 24 bums nowhere outside of your home in Canada it can build your confidence to where it causes blindness. The only name I recognized on his padded record was Hector Camacho Jr. who had another padded record against 50+ no names.

This is the same thing that is gonna happen with canelo, another boxer who is believing his own hype and is getting overconfident saying he is ready for the big names. Lemieux was the Canadian canelo

yeah HUGE UPS to my mexican boxing brethren. What a badass. i don't care if he was covering up - to take those shots for 5-6 rounds is BRUTAL . . . That straight right was the charm for Rubio! And David has absolutely NO IDEA what to do going backwards. he also doesn't know how to clinch. really not that surprising this happened at all in hindsight. . . also there was a HEIGHT DYNAMIC - David is a short squat fighter, and rubio took advantage of his rangier right hand.

He's only 22 years old. Guess that will be part of the learning curve.

With maybe a big 30 seconds left in the round I feel that Russ Anber threw the towel a little too soon but he probably felt that he wasn't going to get threw the next few rounds anyway.

Lemieux needed that fight to see where he stood and that loss will make him a better fighter.

You also have to realise who his trainer is> I believe (correct me if I'm wrong) that it is Russ Anber, whom I don't think had any pro experience at all. At best he was a local Amateur Flyweight champ, who could talk on TV on his little show, and has been in Canadian Amateur boxing a longish time. But I never thought that he knew much about the Art of boxing, more like the fans who write in to BoxingScene. He sort of suddenly came on the pro scene as an "authority" and trainer and I think even just as suddenly became a cutman a couple of years back. A nice enough guy personally, I've met him a time or two. A tiny little fellow with a beard.

I think Lemieux is his only fighter, maybe has another one or two that no one's ever heard of. I don't think he ever trained even as many as a half dozen fighters in his life and none of them made the newspapers. I lived in Canada for many years and am fairly sure of my facts.

He is certainly no Manny Steward, who was, I think a Golden Gloves Champ and held several other Amateur titles. So, nice guy or not, I think Lemieux needs badly to get himself a proper trainer.
