Mayweather was leaving Arum when the Marg fight came about and would had to sign a 3 fight deal to fight Margarito which means 3 more fights under Arum, instead he fought the WBC champ Baldomir for 8,000,001 dollars 1 more dollar than Arum offered as a slap in the face.

way to screw up the time line. he chose to fight baldomir not delahoya. maybe he was waiting for a delahoya fight in the long run but he fought baldomir because he knew he had no chance at winning and ruining his delahoya payday.

he also never fought marg or cotto after the delahoya fight. instead he chose a series of retirements while they were on top.

After the Gatti fight he had one fight left with Top rank, Arum was looking to pit him in with Margarito but Rito end up fighting Gomez while Mayweather end up fighting Sharmba Mitchell and after that the Judah fight took place, But before all of this he was offered 8M by Arum to fight Margarito in August 2006, Team Mayweather claim he injured his hands in the Judah fight and that Mayweather would only be available towards the end of 2006.

how can you say he made a lot more if you don't know how much he would have made? a guarantee is only a minimum. it's not the total amount. mayweather's guarantee when he actually fought hatton was only 11 million.

you could also say if mayweather fought margarito and cotto instead of baldomir he would have made a lot more when he did fight delahoya and hatton because his popularity would have been even higher.
