Erik Morales fires his DAD as Trainer....

Who do you think will take his place?

Morales doesn't keep dad as trainer after recent loss

Erik Morales' father won't train his son for a rematch on Jan. 21 against Manny Pacquiao, promoter Bob Arum said.

Jose Morales is out after Zahir Raheem's upset last Saturday of Morales in Los Angeles, said Arum, who disclosed the move after he arrived this week in Phoenix for tonight's card featuring Julio Cesar Chavez at America West Arena.

Arum said a leading trainer would work with Morales, but he didn't identify candidates.

The shuffle coincides with Arum's argument that Phoenix middleweight Jesus Gonzales needs a major trainer.

Gonzales' dad, Ernie, will be in his son's corner tonight at America West against Jose Luis Zertuche.

The debate about fathers and sons is about as long as boxing itself. The theory is that fathers have a tough time being honest with their sons, especially in a close fight.

This is really bad its been his dad that took him where he got... something tells me that if his dad isnt there anymore its cus he wants his son to stop because of Eriks lack of concentration as of late.

I don't think it was his dad's fault that he was fat and out of shape for the Raheem fight!! Bad move!!

i agree to a degree but i still think without morales dad in his corner it could be a problem for him. your right when you say morales doesnt usually listen to his dad, i remember watching the first barrera vs morales fight and morales' dad was practically pleading with morales to not get into a war after the first couple of rounds, he was telling him to stay on the outside and jab barrera but he wasnt listening at all.

The sacking doesn't look good; it doesn't speak well of Morales' character.

It was not his dad who was gobbling fajitas and beer... as was often reported prior to the Raheem encounter.

Erik should consider that his dad was good enough for all of his career; why not anymore?
