Pac vs Mosley should be on CBS...

**** HBO, **** showtime. If you really want to put boxing on the map again or at least help mayweather-pac do the best possible numbers on PPV, this fight should be on cable.

It's going to be an exciting fight no matter what. That would be sick!

I doubt we will ever see a fight on Prime TV ever again.

I agree. It'd be a risk for CBS/Shotime but if it does well, they could create a market for boxing on free tv again. They'd probably lose money in the short run with PPV > Sponsors, but the advertising revenue would go up if they did a big number. And I don't discount their ability to do a big number. Most sports fans aren't really sports fans, they just watch what they're told to watch. Watch Sports Center in the morning and ask one of your friends who their favorite player in (whatever sport) is. Guarantee you at least 40% of those guys will mention someone who was featured that morning. So if they just hyped boxing (not that hard, people love Rocky, easy to sell the ex-champ making a comeback against a juggernaut angle) like hell, spent a bunch on advertising, people would enjoy the sport enough to watch another fight and then another fight. Soon enough, you have a sport that runs year round, doesn't last too long and has a lot of sponsorship opportunities. HBO and Shotime have done a lot for boxing but they've also really added to its decline because they restricted its availability.

That's true, but if the sponsorship money is right, then it's not out of the question that we see a Pacquiao fight on network TV in the next year or 2.

The problem is not all advertisers want to be associated with a violent combat sport. Look at Tyson in his prime or Mayweather now. No one wants their brand to be associated with them because they were scumbags. And alot of fighters don't even speak english. Unless there is a markatable english speaking boxer who takes over the sport by storm, it makes more sense to be on PPV than network tv.

              All very good points.

But I look at Fight Camp 360 being like a dress rehearsal for Boxing being back on Network TV. Pacquiao may not be a English speaker (as a first language) but sponsors love him because he appeals to a broad spectrum- from young hardcore fight fans to older Conservative Christians. I think CBS realizes this which is why they're on the bandwagon.

Arum has not made it a secret that the end game of this partnership is to get Boxing back on the networks. If Pacquiao-Mosley is a blockbuster, and I think it will be, CBS/Showtime will be eager to hold on to Manny for his remaining 5-6 fights. That means making Arum happy, and the fact that Strikeforce is leaving SHOW once the contract runs out means Boxing will be the go-to sport for the network.

Not unreasonable to think that a show like Top Rank Live will be on CBS Fridays or Saturdays and that if Top Rank and CBS can convince the sponsors (and other sources like dictators, I see you Don lol) to make big enough investments, Pacquiao vs who knows could be on CBS on a Saturday night.
