I got the stomach for it, lets do this - Joe Calzaghe, Legend

So I'm looking through videos and see one entitled Joe Calzaghe, Legend. Short clips begin appearing early in his career, the young Joe batters oppenents with nice right hands and counters. I think to myself, he's not slapping at all.... what gives? After the first viewing of Lacy/Calzaghe I was sickened by the obvious cuffing/slapping of Calzaghe. He wasn't showing that at all in the footage. Then on the screen Calzaghe moves his opponent into the corner and he moves in close. Ablur of read streaks in short waves as Calzaghe flails his hands about, back hands, cuffs, you name it. Approzimately 45 seconds of the 5 minute had elapsed as I was viewing a young Calzaghe throwing good shots. Then I watched his opponents except flush cuffs to the face on a already swollen eyes.. Calzaghe moves away from his opponent.............. Rockin'

If Joe was just a slapper (pardon the pun) then why didn’t anyone ever beat him?

You need a lot more than a few slaps to win all the belts he won. Hand speed, athleticism, boxing ability and intelligence, a strong heart and chin

      All these things he possessed.

All these thing he had, in abundance.

Yes he could have fought RJJ or Hopkins in their prime, yes he could have fought Collins etc, etc. But you know what, we can say that sort of thing about almost all fighters.

      46-0

A record 21 SMW title defences

Undisputed SMW champion of the world.

Ring magazine LHW champion of the world

That’s a pretty solid CV in my book.

Just a shame he came across as such a prick!

The present may be cruel towards him, but histroy will most definately be kind.

Calzaghe was a pretty amazing boxer. Not surpised at the hate he gets after the way he treated Jones and Hopkins in the ring, Was very impolite. both of them had it comming though. And I enjoyed Calzaghe making them both look like fools. Calzaghe vs Jones was one of the most hiliarious fights ever.

If you finish your career undefeated then NSB views you as having fought men without any sign of a pulse
