Your right about that, he was very fortunate it was over but lets give some credit to Mesi for being able to hang on and survive to win by 1 point on if I remember right all cards.Originally posted by Klitschko2011Mesi is lucky it was only a 10 round fight. If it was a 12 round fight, Mesi would've left the ring in a body bag. Jirov ruined Mesi.Comment

I soured on Jirov when Moorer laid him out.
The past-prime Moorer.
I always felt Mesi was one step from being comatose had he stepped up and fought someone with a pulse.
It's good it didn't get to that point, but it was close.Comment

Yeah a more natural HW with some power like Rahman at the time would have laid Mesi out.Comment

Mesi retired and last I heard was trying to get into politics.
Originally he was the #1 contender and undefeated but suffered a brain injury in the Jirov fight and was ordered to retire. He found a way around the suspension and continued to fight mainly against clubfighters and tomato cans til finally giving up in 2007. His final record was 36-0 wih 29kos
And Monte Barrett did the same thing as Jirov. Nearly knocked him out in the last round. Mesi had good skills and power but the way he tired and was in trouble the last rounds of fights was something his handlers should have spotted along the way and corrected because even if wasn't injured and went on to win a title, sooner or later it would have caught with him.Comment
