  • Comments Thread For: Ivan Calderon Will Move Back, Eyes 105-Pound Return

    Former two division champion Ivan Calderon once again stated that he has no plans to retire. He will rest for a few months and most likely makes his return in October when the island of Puerto Rico will stage the Annual Convention of the World Boxing Organization. Calderon plans to fight at the 105-pound division, where he ruled with an iron fist until he decided to move up in weight - and then suffered his only two losses, with both of them coming to Mexico's Giovani Segura. Calderon was unable to deal with Segura's size and power. Segura made the division limit of 108, but came to ring at 121-pounds.

        It happens from the Mexican side too. How many were saying Rafa was old, shot and moved up in weight to face Juanma?

        Erik Morales quit under less pressing circumstances when he fought Pacquaio. He just looked up and nodded "no."

        When Chavez lost his fights, the #1 excuse was how he was "no longer in his prime." It is a reasonable observation that when a man is 35 years old in this sport, he is no longer on point as he was when he was 25.

        The few that have been over 35,and looked amazing, are either special fighters, or fighters who know how to get high on PEDs without detection.

          When I see Segura in the ring with Calderon, I gotta say, it looks odd. The guy just looks that much bigger than Ivan. Moreso than the size discrepancy between Rafa and JuanMa. Yet, I recall those who where saying Rafa was so small in comparison to Juanma Lopez.

            Hey, just admit it, your boy quit! He even said he refused to be hurt so he stayed down on one knee. Once you quit, it becomes easier to do it again. Calderon will quit again before his career is up, once the going get's rough, he will fold. He should just retire...

                  Get surgery kid. Your anger reveals way too much.

                  And yes, Rafa quit the same way Mayorga quit. By faking an injury somewhere when his chin started to say "I think I might give in!"

                  Bottom line, you really should only talk shyt about "quitting" if NON of you countrymen have ever quit. If I threw it in your face with Rafa, it was only to make a point. Recall the fun you had when Cotto "quit" to the Asterisk Warrior?

                  * = Margarito.

                  Should we just for kicks, tally up all the quiters on Team PR vs All the quitters on Team Mexico? Hmm

                  You should remain silent starting now.

                    i think too many excuses are being used as to why calderon lost,all and i mean all of his opponents are bigger than him,cazares was huge,so everytime he gets hurt or the opponent punches him in the nose he's going to quit? there was an 8 pound difference between the two,121 to 113 which is what calderon weighed,some boxers get outweighed by 15 pounds,8 pounds isn't a lot,i just think calderon doesn't like to get hit,some don't mind and have the heart to continue,i don't think he's that kind of boxer,have a feeling even if he goes to 105 and starts getting tagged he'll look for the easy way out
