Comments Thread For: John Murray is Willing To Face Kevin Mitchell Next

Lightweight John Murray (31-0, 18KOs) is willing to face his domestic rival Kevin Mitchell (31-1, 23KOs) in his next ring appearance. On Saturday at York Hall, Murray had a tough time winning a decision over Karim El Ouazohari. Mitchell was at ringside looking on. Initially, Mitchell was going to be the opponent on Saturday but there was an issue over money and El Ouazohari was brought in.

      Right.

Mitchell was not adequately prepared for a fighter like Katsidis, but he more than has enough ability to take Murray apart.

Hopefully, Kevin decides to take the money and fight.

Glad he's realised how bad he looked against a fringe Euro contender and now sets his sights firmly back to domestic level.

First time he meets a genuine world class fighter he will lose that precious record.

Mitchell can be a genuine contender in the lightweight division. He has the skills the skills and power to maybe become a champion one day, he just needs the right fights to build himself up. He wasn't adequately prepared for the Katsidis fight and hadn't fought anybody remotely near that level before, which told on the night.

If he can beat Murray, which he probably will, he should be looking to fight the likes of Juan Diaz, David Diaz, Nate Campbell, and Escobedo. These are fights that will go a long way in preparing him for the best in the LW division.

He will probably never be able to compete with the likes of Rios, Vasquez, Marquez, and Soto due to him being a small lightweight, however, I'm confident he can become a legitimate contender, who on his day, can pull the odd big victory from out of the hat.

What a ****** remark, you childish idiot.

                    Ok, back to the subject..

This is a GREAT fight IMO. Murray is a very good fighter, but wears his heart on his sleeve far too much.

Mitchell, however will be carrying over 12 months of ring rust going into the fight.

It’s a tough pick, both evenly matched, but if pushed i lean towards Murray.

Good fight though, looking forward to it.
