This is a simple question to answer. De LaHoya was a "local" guy and Manny P. is a worldwide International celebrity because of his rags to riches story, his late life self education, his political persistance ending in being elected to Parliament, and is successful rise through so many different weight classes.

And where in the world have we ever heard of a member of Parliament also conducting business as a world boxing champion. The closest to this are the Klitschko, particularly VK, but it's not the same because VK has not yet succeeded politically and came from a superior background, and his extra curricular activities are far better than Manny's but again, it's not the same.
