Roy Jones Sr.: Roy looks tremendous in training

    TARVER'S GOING DOWN!!!

from Roy Jones, Sr.: "NO EXCUSES: THE FIGHT WILL GO ON!" (By Brad Cooney)

    Jones, Sr. quotes:
"The fight will go on as planned," Jones, Sr. adds, "Roy looks tremendous in training, and don't be surprised if Roy shocks the world".

"His hand is much better than it was [Tuesday]. Roy will go through with this fight, also Roy has heard what Tarver has been saying the same."

Well he always looks great in training...all I care about is how great he can look for 12 rounds or until the final bell...

I just want him to win...

TRUE. I have looked AWESOME in the gym for some fights but then in the fight different things come up that dont come up in the gym. Sometimes you have to fight having lost 8 or 9 pounds in the previous day, stuff like that that doesnt apply to the gym. The fight is not the same as the gym.

Good point. However, looking awesome in the gym then losing 8 or 9 pounds the previous day is still much better than looking less than awesome in the gym and losing 8 or 9 pounds the day prior o the fight.

I think roy jones is going to use a lot of movement in the ring and stay off the ropes. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if he used his jab more. If he does these two things, Tarver is gonna be in big trouble.

The gym doesnt matter all that much because you are there to work on things and you dont usually use your full arsenal anyway. Also, looking good against guys that arent tarver isnt going to matter if you dont look against the real guy. i have seen guys, myself included, look GREAT in the gym and NOT in the next fight and also look terible in sparring but then look GREAT in a fight.

very true, a kickboxer at the gym i trained at used to regularly look so so in sparring but come fight night things (usually) clicked and he'd look like different man to the man we've seen sparring.

If if Tarver wins he is going to be shocked when he hits Roy and gets hit twice in return. But im pulling for Roy.

The difference in this fight is not how well the training is going (although I'm glad to hear Jones is having a good camp). The difference is going to be the mentality of Roy going into the rubbermatch. If he really wants it as bad as he acts like he does, he can surely get it.

i think rjj will win this fight ....i honestly feel that his back to back k.o losses were in part because he did not have the fire and motivation for boxing especially in the johnson fight he did not look like he wanted to be there ...for this fight i feel rjj is as motivated as ever and will go into it feeling like he has alot to prove like he did against griffin i think tarver is in trouble i have never seen a motivated rjj get beat ..

RJJ used to say that he holds back when he fights because if he ever let go he'd seriously hurt some one.Thats the guy I'm hoping to see,one last fight, balls to the wall and hair straight back and let the chips fall where they may.Hang on to your hat Tarver you ain't no Roy Jones Junior, never were and never will be.I give RJJ all the credit in the world for coming back and I think he will be back much to Tarvers dismay. He barely stayed with a weak Roy in the first fight then caught him with a good but lucky shot in the second fight.RJJ is rested and at his weight and pissed off.
